Transport insurance for your shipments
Report damage

Report transport damage

Has your shipment arrived damaged or is something missing? Report the damage here with your order number and photos, and our customer service will help you with the claim.

What to do

How to report damage correctly

  1. On delivery: if damage is visible from the outside, have it noted on the delivery note straight away and signed by the driver. Without this note on the proof of delivery, such damage cannot be passed on to the insurer.
  2. Take photos: photograph the damage, the packaging and the delivery note with the note on it. transportami needs meaningful photo documentation for every claim.
  3. Hidden damage: report damage you only discover when unpacking immediately after discovering it, and no later than 7 days after delivery.
  4. Submit the form: enter your order number and upload the photos. Our customer service will get back to you.

The rules on liability and claims are set out in section 11 of our terms and conditions. You can read more about insurance cover on the transport insurance page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about damage

If your shipment was delivered damaged, act immediately: have the damage noted on the delivery note and confirmed by the driver's signature, and document the damage with photos. Then please contact transportami to report the damage. We will help you with handling the claim. 1. For damage that was already visible at delivery, we always need a proof of delivery (POD) on which the damage is noted. Only with this note can we forward the case to our insurer for review and possible reimbursement. 2. Concealed damage that was not immediately visible at delivery must be reported immediately after it is discovered, and no later than 7 days after delivery. For this, please send us a written damage report together with meaningful photos and the value of the damaged goods (invoice/receipt for the amount of the damage). The goods are only insured for their value if transport insurance was taken out; the insurer's conditions apply. Without insurance, the freight forwarder's statutory liability applies.
For private customers, transport insurance is included automatically. For business customers it is preselected when booking, but they can deselect it. Online, you can insure goods with a value of up to €15,000; for pickups in Switzerland, transport insurance cannot be booked. Without transport insurance, only the freight forwarder's statutory liability applies in the event of damage. It is usually low, because it is based on the weight of the goods rather than their value, and many risks are excluded from it. What transportami's transport insurance covers is explained on the transport insurance page.
For business recipients: on working days, delivery between 8 am and 4 pm is usually no problem, as there is generally someone on site who can accept and sign for the goods. An authority to leave is then usually not necessary. For private individuals: here, there is often not someone at home all the time to accept the goods. We cannot give an exact delivery time in advance. We therefore recommend that private individuals give an authority to leave if in doubt. In the comments field of the booking process, you can specify a particular place to leave the goods (e.g. “to the right of the front door”). Important: the goods are only left at ground level (“kerbside delivery”). Without an authority to leave, the driver takes the goods back to the depot if nobody is there. We may charge up to twice the freight price for another delivery attempt. If an authority to leave has been given, no signature is needed on the delivery receipt and the driver leaves the goods at the delivery address. Disadvantage: in the event of damage, no note can be made on the delivery receipt, as there is no handover in person. This can make a claim more difficult, because in the event of damage, a note of the damage on the delivery receipt is important for reporting it to the insurer. We always recommend that private senders and recipients book phone notices, so that the driver calls before pickup or delivery.
